College Counseling

Welcome to the College Counseling Program at Macon East Academy!

The College Counseling program is an integral part of the total experience of a Macon East Academy education. The college and career counseling department is committed to educating and preparing each of our students for the college search, application, and selection process. Searching for a college match is a highly individualized experience.

Although the formal college search begins during the junior year, the process starts in the spring of the eighth grade year, where an intense emphasis is put on course selection for their upcoming years in senior high.

Throughout high school the college counselor works with students to aid them in selecting courses that maximize their potential. Students are encouraged to pursue the strongest academic program appropriate for them and to develop a special talent or interest beyond the classroom.

Programs will be offered throughout each of the four high school years for students and parents on topics such as course selection and the college admissions process. Individual meetings between the college counselor, students and parents are scheduled in the spring of the junior year and fall of the senior year.

The College Counselor will assist the student with approaches to applications and scholarships, offer suggestions of alternative colleges/universities and help with specific strategies and deadlines. While the application process remains firmly rooted in the responsibility of the student, comprehensive guidance is continuous.

Macon East Academy provides an effective and highly individualized program of college counseling for its students and parents.
