BACK TO SCHOOL BASH!

Macon East Academy held its fourth annual Back to School Bash and Silent Auction on August 21, 2022. Hosted by the PTO, this event brings families from the school and community together for an afternoon of fun and fellowship for all ages. Kids enjoyed carnival games and prizes, inflatables, face painting, and more. This year the Pike Road Fire Department set up their truck and allowed kids to work the water hose (with help). A new addition this year was Laurel Hill Farms that brought various farm animals for the kids to pet, hold, and learn about. Our high school kids were a great help in running the games and we appreciate all our great volunteers. The day was topped off with a silent auction, featuring a wide variety of items up for the bidding. The Bash was a wonderful success thanks to a great turnout, generous local sponsors, and many hardworking volunteers. The PTO is already planning for even more fun for next year!

Macon East Butterfly Garden is a Popular Learning Classroom

Macon East K4 and K5 Classes have really enjoyed learning in the outdoor classroom.  Ms. Lawrence’s Kindergarten students enjoyed watching the caterpillars in the MEA butterfly garden in the various stages of metamorphosis. Each day following lunch, the students visit the garden to observe any changes. They observed numerous and varying sizes of caterpillars and a chrysalis. They are eagerly awaiting the emergence of a butterfly!  The students in Mrs. Mills’ K4 class recently enjoyed hiking around the school on a Scavenger Hunt! They also had fun looking for butterflies in the butterfly garden.

Macon East Knights baseball team earns All-Academic Honors from The Alabama Baseball Coaches Association

The Alabama Baseball Coaches Association recently recognized members’ athletes for their work in the classroom with all-academic teams.  Macon East’s baseball team put together a productive spring on the field by winning a State Championship, and the Knights also handled their business in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year. The Knights (3.87 GPA) were one of just 19 programs across the state to be selected an All-Academic Varsity Team — a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher — by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association (ALABCA). Senior Luke Noffsinger earned first-team All-Academic honors, while Senior Bryant Rascoll claimed second-team All-Academic accolades. Not only do the boys spend countless hours on the baseball field practicing, but they also find the time to STUDY.  A big thank you goes out to our team of coaches for maintaining a high standard of academic excellence for the athletes.  Way to go Knights!
