This quarter’s Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts ARTWORKS Corridor call for entries, “Sensational Still Life”, connects with the unusual hand-formed glass sculptures by Wisconsin based artist Beth Lipman in her exhibit “Once & Again: Still Lifes.” There were over 100 entries, and after the jurying process by Museum curators, educators, and artists, the final count was 44 works of art. These included three of our students from Macon East Academy. Madison Folkes’ photo, Chemical Leak, shows a pineapple covered and dripping with white paint. Chloe Patterson’s (not pictured) photograph, Natural, gives us a glimpse of several broken chicken eggs in their various, yet unique, colors. Hannah Johnsons’ mixed media, Melting Point, displays three, painted, papier Mache fruits on top of a marbled paper and Plexiglas background. These Macon East artists’ work will be on exhibition from January 16 until March 6.
