Each of us remember the days of competing in the annual spelling bee and all the nerves, practice bees in class, and that one letter that meant you were moving on or taking a seat.  Fortunately, the tradition of a spelling bee lives on, however, I think the words are a bit more difficult than in the past.  Macon East students in 4th-8th grade compete in a grade level bee with the winners advancing to the AISA District and State competitions.  This year Mason Humphries (4), Katie Kitchens (5), Kaiden Byrom (6), Ryan Russell (7), and Ali Churchwell (8) won their grade level spelling bee and competed at District.  Kaiden Byrom and Katie Kitchens, taking 1st place at District, advanced to the AISA State Spelling Bee where Kaiden Byrom was the 1st place State winner in the 6th grade division.
