Congratulations to Junior, ๐๐ป๐ป๐ฎ ๐ช๐ฎ๐๐๐ผ๐ป, on being chosen to be an alumni staff member at the Hugh O Brien Youth Leadership conference on the campus of Troy University this summer. Alumni staff members work with the seminar operations team, lead ambassadors in energizers, and perform support activities throughout the Alabama HOBY seminar weekend. We are so proud to have Anna be selected and to represent Macon East!
Macon East Academyโs SGA strives to make a difference and help those in need.ย During the months of November and December, the school participated in Dixie Electricโs Food Drive during the 12s Day of Giving and collected over 1,200 items for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. Macon East lower school through 8th grade also joined together for their Christmas service project to collect Christmas gifts for Heart to Heart, a local foster care ministry.ย The Montgomery Humane Society benefitted from the 9th and 10th grade classes donating much needed supplies.ย 11th and 12th grades focused on Mid-Alabama Coalition for the Homeless donating cold weather jackets and gloves.ย Community involvement is very important for all students at Macon East.
Congratulations to Senior,ย Camden Bell, who signed a letter of intent to continue his baseball and academic career at Huntingdon College! Camden will join the Hawks Baseball Team in the Fall!
Macon East celebrated Homecoming the week of September 19 – 23.ย Events included themed dress up days of America Monday, Tuesday Night Fever, Dress to Unimpress (Tacky Day), Dress Like the First Letter of Your Name, and Spirit Day.ย The entire school really enjoyed dressing up and showing their school spirit. Other events during the week included a dodgeball tournament, boys volleyball tournament, and a homeroom door decorating contest.ย The cheerleaders entertained everyone with a fantastic blacklight pep rally Thursday night. The annual upper school tailgate was a time of good food and lots of fun and fellowship.ย The lower school students enjoyed tailgating as well with pizza, watermelon, and goodies.ย ย As the school day ended, everyone gathered in the parking lot for the Homecoming Parade.ย Each lower school class carried a sign down the parade route.ย The wee princess, little damsel, and pee wee cheerleaders along with the pee wee football team rode on floats and trailers throwing goodie bags to the crowd.ย Homecoming attendants threw goodies to the crowd as well from their decorated vehicles.ย Homecoming Court attendants selected by their classmates were Bentley Graham (7th grade), Megan Hardy (8th grade), Lexi Hagood (9th grade), Alexis Davis & Mattie Pugh (10th grade), Pressley Graham, Lathan Johnson & Jaiden McDowell (11th grade), Mikalah Belser, Hannah Kate Hodges, Madison May, & Lulu Russell (12th grade).ย At halftime of the football game, Miss Lulu Russell was crowned as the 2022 Homecoming Queen.ย The Knights played an outstanding game, but Lee-Scott won the battle of the unbeatens 49-7. Gabe Spencer and Deonte Powell led the Knights offensively.ย Defensively, Dalton Nickles, Zach Brown and Thaddeus McKinney racked up tackles.
Sara Cochranย reached 1,000 career kills for the Lady Knights volleyball team last night!ย Just a Junior, Sara is an incredible volleyball standout who has played varsity volleyball at Macon East since 7th grade.ย โSara is an incredible player, and we really rely on her to keep the team alive and thriving. She is a great player and a great teammate. She has done wonders for this program.โ Coach Codi Berry.
Officials stopped the match Thursday night against Fort Dale to honor junior outside hitter Cochran after she hit her 1,000th career kill and presented her a volleyball signed by the team and coaches.ย We are very proud of Saraโs accomplishment and look forward to a continued season of growth and anticipate Saraโs senior season will bring more record breaking at Macon East.

His message is that he wants all students to be in love with God and choose the path that leads to eternal life in heaven.ย Macon East chapel services are designed to encourage, educate, and challenge students to pursue a closer walk with God. They play an important role in each childโs education but also in their spiritual development so that they can bring God glory with their lives.

Founded in 1958, HOBYโs mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs provide students selected by their schools an opportunity to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace, and community. We look forward to witnessing the leadership skills of both Kaiden and Anna!
Congratulations to Jack Jones for being selected as a delegate at the Eighty-Fifth American Legion Alabama Boys State. This is an incredible honor and experience for rising Senior young men from across the State of Alabama.ย He was a credit to his community and to Macon East Academy.
Jack was elected by his Alabama Boys State peers to the position of House of Representatives. During his week, he served as an active citizen and official while learning about the responsibilities and benefits of citizenship in the State of Alabama and the United States.
Jack received scholarships from The University of Alabama, The University of West Alabama, Hampden Sidney College in Virginia, The University of Montevallo, Troy University, and South Alabama.
Nearly 470 rising high school seniors from across the state participated in the week-long program hosted by Troy University to learn about Alabama, civics, and issues facing Alabama.ย Way to go Jack!ย #boysstateย #maconeastacademy
The annual Macon East Honors Day program was a time to recognize the graduating class for their accomplishments as well as other outstanding upper school students.ย Representatives from many colleges were on hand to present scholarships and recognition to the seniors.ย The Class of 2022 earned over $3 million in academic and athletic scholarships.ย Seniors were also presented with their honor cords and honor graduate medallions to be worn at the commencement ceremony.ย Two of our elementary teachers were honored for celebrating 25 years at Macon East Academy โ Mrs. Debbie Mills and Mrs. Melissa Gilmore!
