Pennies and paper money earned positive points for their grade, while silver coins could be used to subtract points from other grades. After careful calculation and much anticipation, Fifth Grade had the highest number of points, winning the penny war! The Lower School raised a total of $1313.71 to donate to the Wounded Warrior Project.

Community Involvement Provided by Macon East SGA

Macon East Academy’s SGA strives to make a difference and help those in need. During October our SGA organized an event to support the Joy to Life Foundation. Students paid money to dress in pink, honor ribbons were sold and posted in the hall with names of those affected by breast cancer. Cheerleaders sold pink bracelets, tattoos and spirit ribbons as well. SGA President, Ethan Jones, and SGA Vice President, Bryant Morrison, presented a check to Mrs. Joy Blondheim for the Joy to Life Foundation for $1,850.00.

During the months of November and December, the school participated in Dixie Electric’s Food Drive during the 12s Day of Giving and collected over 1,400 pounds of food for the Montgomery Area Food Bank. Community involvement is very important for all students at Macon East.

Homecoming 2023

Macon East’s Homecoming is an exciting time for students and their families, filled with a week-long celebration of fun and festivities. One of the highlights of the week was a thrilling men’s volleyball tournament, where high school students showcased their skills and competed against each other.

In addition to the sports event, homeroom classes also got into the spirit by participating in a door decoration contest. This allowed students to showcase their creativity and team spirit as they transformed their classroom doors into vibrant and eye-catching displays.

Dress up days added an extra element of excitement to the Homecoming week. Students had the opportunity to show off their individuality and express themselves through various themed dress-up days such as class color day, dynamic duos, dream job, letter day, and Freedom Friday. The cheerleaders entertained and pumped everyone up with their annual black light pep rally Thursday night.  Finally on Friday, the lower school and upper school enjoyed tailgating with wonderful food and fellowship.  The Homecoming Parade on Friday afternoon was a highly anticipated event for everyone involved. Each lower school class had the opportunity to showcase their creativity by creating a unique banner to carry down the parade route. The wee princess, little damsel, and pee wee cheerleaders along with the flag and pee wee football teams rode on floats and trailers throwing goodies to the crowd.  The Homecoming Court then made their way down the route to wave at their peers and throw some goodies.   The football teams also greeted the crowd with candy and enjoyed the cheers from the students.

Back to School Bash 2023

Macon East Academy held its fifth annual Back to School Bash and Silent Auction on August 20, 2023. This was a fun event for the school and community hosted by the MEA PTO. Kids enjoyed carnival games and prizes, inflatables, face painting, balloon animals, petting zoo, and the dunk tank. This year several trucks were set up for our touch a truck event along with a food truck and Bama Chill snow cones. Our high school kids were a great help in running the games and we appreciate all our great volunteers! The day was topped off with a silent auction, featuring a wide variety of items up for the bidding. The Bash was a wonderful success thanks to a great turnout, generous local sponsors, and many hardworking volunteers. The PTO is already planning for even more fun for next year!
