Macon East Academy is proud to recognize three of its upcoming star athletes who participated in the World Series in Monroe, Louisiana! ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ช๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ, who is a new student this year at Macon East Academy, is entering the 4th grade, and is on the 9U AUM All Star team representing the state of Alabama. His father, ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐ช๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ is a Macon East alumnus, Class of 2000. ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฒ ๐ช๐ฎ๐น๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ฒ pitched a shutout game against Texas to help his team advance to the championship game! They finished runner-up at the World Series! ๐ฆ๐น๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ and ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ, both second graders, are also in Louisiana representing Alabama for the Montgomery American team in the 7U Dixie Youth World Series. Sladeโs parents, ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ฆ๐๐บ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ, both have connections with Macon East. Jamie serves as Vice President of the Macon East board and graduated from Macon in 2000. Summer teaches art at Macon East and is also the varsity cheerleader sponsor. Brysonโs Mom, ๐ ๐ฒ๐ด๐ฎ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ, is also Macon East alumnus, Class of 2008! ๐๐ฟ๐๐๐ผ๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐ฑ and ๐ฆ๐น๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ฒ ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ had an awesome time at the World Series and did an amazing job finishing in 6th place!

The Alabama Baseball Coaches Association recently recognized membersโ athletes for their work in the classroom with all-academic teams.ย Macon Eastโs baseball team put together a productive spring on the field by winning a State Championship, and the Knights also handled their business in the classroom during the 2021-22 academic year.ย The Knights (3.87 GPA) were one of just 19 programs across the state to be selected an All-Academic Varsity Team โ a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher โ by the Alabama Baseball Coaches Association (ALABCA).ย Senior Luke Noffsinger earned first-team All-Academic honors, while Senior Bryant Rascoll claimed second-team All-Academic accolades.ย Not only do the boys spend countless hours on the baseball field practicing, but they also find the time to STUDY.ย A big thank you goes out to our team of coaches for maintaining a high standard of academic excellence for the athletes.ย Way to go Knights!

BASEBALL:
Player of the Year: ๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ป๐Led Macon-East to a 35-5 record and an AISA Class AA state title with his performance as a pitcher, hitter and outfielder. Threw a complete-game, three-hit shutout in Game 1 of the championship series against Patrician Academy, needing just 68 pitches.
First Team:
๐ ๐ฎ๐๐๐ต๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ป๐ – Pitcher
First-team AISA All-State. Went 8-0 with an 0.46 ERA in 60โ innings. Recorded 73 strikeouts to five walks and allowed an opposing batting average of .157. Six of his 10 starts were shutouts. Hit .366 with a .485 on-base percentage, 32 RBIs and 22 stolen bases. Two-time All-State and All-Metro.

First-team AISA All-State. Torched AISA pitching to the tune of a .545 average and 1.505 OPS. Hit six home runs, 14 doubles and drove in 54 runs. Made just three errors. Two-time All-State.

First-team AISA All-State. Batted .378 with 39 RBIs and a .934 OPS. Was the Knights’ starting pitcher during the state title-clinching game and went 7-2 with 49 strikeouts in 45โ innings.

Honorable mention AISA All-State. Batted .365 with a .547 on-base percentage and .989 OPS. Scored 62 runs, drove in 19 runs and stole 18 bases.

Why chosen:ย Second-team AISA All-State. She hit .421 with seven homers, 33 RBIs, 43 runs and 17 doubles. Stole eight bases. Pitched almost every game for the Knights, striking out 278 and posting a 2.81 ERA in 232 innings.

Founded in 1958, HOBYโs mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation. HOBY programs provide students selected by their schools an opportunity to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace, and community. We look forward to witnessing the leadership skills of both Kaiden and Anna!
Congratulations to Jack Jones for being selected as a delegate at the Eighty-Fifth American Legion Alabama Boys State. This is an incredible honor and experience for rising Senior young men from across the State of Alabama.ย He was a credit to his community and to Macon East Academy.
Jack was elected by his Alabama Boys State peers to the position of House of Representatives. During his week, he served as an active citizen and official while learning about the responsibilities and benefits of citizenship in the State of Alabama and the United States.
Jack received scholarships from The University of Alabama, The University of West Alabama, Hampden Sidney College in Virginia, The University of Montevallo, Troy University, and South Alabama.
Nearly 470 rising high school seniors from across the state participated in the week-long program hosted by Troy University to learn about Alabama, civics, and issues facing Alabama.ย Way to go Jack!ย #boysstateย #maconeastacademy
The annual Macon East Honors Day program was a time to recognize the graduating class for their accomplishments as well as other outstanding upper school students.ย Representatives from many colleges were on hand to present scholarships and recognition to the seniors.ย The Class of 2022 earned over $3 million in academic and athletic scholarships.ย Seniors were also presented with their honor cords and honor graduate medallions to be worn at the commencement ceremony.ย Two of our elementary teachers were honored for celebrating 25 years at Macon East Academy โ Mrs. Debbie Mills and Mrs. Melissa Gilmore!
