Jones Excels at Alabama Boys State

Congratulations to Jack Jones for being selected as a delegate at the Eighty-Fifth American Legion Alabama Boys State. This is an incredible honor and experience for rising Senior young men from across the State of Alabama.  He was a credit to his community and to Macon East Academy.

Jack was elected by his Alabama Boys State peers to the position of House of Representatives. During his week, he served as an active citizen and official while learning about the responsibilities and benefits of citizenship in the State of Alabama and the United States.

Jack received scholarships from The University of Alabama, The University of West Alabama, Hampden Sidney College in Virginia, The University of Montevallo, Troy University, and South Alabama.

Nearly 470 rising high school seniors from across the state participated in the week-long program hosted by Troy University to learn about Alabama, civics, and issues facing Alabama.  Way to go Jack!  #boysstate  #maconeastacademy

Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award Banquet

Seniors, Rachel Major (cheer) and Luke Noffsinger (baseball, football, and travel baseball) represented Macon East Academy at the 63rd annual Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award ceremony.  Since 1959, the objective of the Jimmy Hitchcock Memorial Award program has been to recognize Christian leadership in athletics and to encourage and inspire others to emulate the man whose memory is perpetuated by this award. Each year coaches nominate senior athletes who have displayed the most outstanding qualities of Christian leadership in athletics and possesses the following qualities: strong character, dependability, 100% effort, team leadership, church leadership, school leadership, and scholastic leadership. 8th grade students who exhibit these same qualities are also invited to attend the annual banquet and be recognized.  This year, Berkley Harris and Braiden Watkins represented Macon East Academy as 8th grade certificate winners.  We are proud to have these athletes a part of our Knight family!

10th Grade English Project

The 10th grade students read Animal Farm by George Orwell, over the course of the third nine weeks. They learned about how power and control can corrupt leadership. They made their own propaganda posters to go along with any part of the novel.
