This achievement signifies our school’s dedication to supporting military students and their families. The Purple Star School program aims to address the issues of high mobility by identifying and designating military-friendly schools that meet specific standards. The Purple Star School Award is a recognition of schools that provide exceptional support to students and families associated with our nation’s military. At Macon East, we understand the challenges that military families face when transitioning to new homes and schools. Headmaster Glynn Lott expressed his pride in supporting military students and families at our school. MEA Basketball Star – Jacob Wilson

Macon East Academy Senior ๐—๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—ฏ ๐—ช๐—ถ๐—น๐˜€๐—ผ๐—ป has made his mark!ย  He was recently selected to the 2022-23 Montgomery Advertiser All-Metro boys basketball team – Small School First Team. He earned first-team AISA All-State honors and is the Alabama Sportswriter Association AISA Player of the Year. He also made the All-Region Tournament Team, AISA All-Star and All-Tournament Team for the State Finals. Wilson averaged 12.3 points per game, 4.6 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 3.2 steals per game while shooting over 50% from the field.

“Jacob, this season, has been one of the best leaders and players to ever play in the Macon Academy East program. His work ethic and passion for the game was remarkable, and how he led by example everyday was the catalyst for us being 25-7 and State Runner Ups this season. Jacob told me before the season started, he wanted to leave a legacy here at Macon and make an impact not only on the court but also in the school. With his dazzling ball handling skills, to his amazing stop and pop jump shot I believe he did just that. I’m so blessed to have coached him this season, such a great young man of character and a true servant leader, Jacob will do some amazing things to better our society.” ๐—–๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ต ๐—Ÿ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฐ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ป ๐—š๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€

Macon East Hosts Environmental Fair

Our lower school, preschool, and MDO students enjoyed a fun filled day of learning at our Environmental Fair last week. Dixie Electric brought several of their reptiles to see up close while an area vet tech and her trusty sidekick dog, Chester, taught how to care for your pets. Alabama PALS spoke about how to keep our community litter free while the American Red Cross taught our students the importance of having a home plan for emergencies. Bonnie Plant Farm and our Green Team volunteers spoke about different plant life and our students got to plant their own succulent to take home. One of our very own teachers, Tim Davenport, is part of the Muskogee Creek Indians east of the Mississippi and he brought many artifacts to share with the classes. Woodie Hodges enjoyed showing how he trains dogs and had 2 very well-behaved dogs do some tricks for our students. We were glad to add the Claybird Bee Education Association to speak about how important bees are to us and for Haigler’s Forestry and Wildlife Management to teach about animal habitats and things made from different parts of our forest. They enjoyed making the different edible layers of soil as a treat with the National Resource Conservation Service and going on a hunt for natural resources outside. It was a beautiful day to finish our Environmental Fair with a visit from the ice cream truck for their Fun Run reward incentive from our PTO.

Macon East Seniors honored at 22nd Biennial Beautillion Militaire Gala and Dinner

Deonte Powell, Jacob Wilson and Gabe Spencer were recently honored at the 22nd Biennial Beautillion Militaire Gala and Dinner fundraiser on March 4, 2023 at the Maxwell Air Force Base. The Beautillion Militaire is a time-honored tradition of the Montgomery Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc.ย  The event provides high school junior and senior young men in the community with an opportunity to develop their cultural, social, and academic potential through workshops, community service, and social activities.ย  The activities culminate in an elegant night of dancing and military-style drills.

Founded in 1938, Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated is a membership organization of mothers with children ages 2-19, dedicated to nurturing future African American leaders by strengthening children through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving, and civic duty.
